Their music is difficult to classify. If you had to narrow them to a specific genre, you could start with folk, dabble into rock, teeter lightly into Ya ll-ternative , and finish with adult alternative. A 1934 Martin O-17 acoustic forms the backbone of most of the 40 Watt Max sound. This acoustic foundation is accentuated with a combination of G & L and Gibson electric guitars, harmonica, and sparse keyboards. Glenn s drums lay down a steady beat that ties the whole thing together. Craig and Glenn prefer to think of their music as lyrically-based , offering simple observations to the complexities of life of 30-somethings in present times. Craig and Glenn began their musical career in a band called Sunday Driver that was formed in 1994. With Stacy Mullican, the trio played on the local bar and college circuit for 5 years before eventually splitting up. Craig and Stacy continued playing as an acoustic duo for another 2 years. 40 Watt Max is a reunion for Craig and Glenn, who have completed the recording of their first album, and are working on songs for the second. Their freshman effort, The Weight of the World , is the first recording production for either Craig or Glenn, and is comprised of 12 songs ranging from the Ya ll-ternative title track, to the mid-tempo sound of Mason Parker . Some music has a more driving edge, as in Old Man Kirby .
