Edito de Yamandu + DominguinhosYamandu Costa, the greatest guitarist brought to light in Brazil during the last few years, plays together with Dominguinhos celebrated accordion.
When the musical producer Jos Milton put together Yamand Costa and Dominguinhos in the studio for the recording of a CD, he had in mind a precisely defined intention: to allow both musicians to be perfectly at ease to execute whatever they felt like playing, without being attached to each others style.
He succeeded. The gacho from Passo Fundo and the pernambucano from Garanhuns who had played together only once before, became partners on the spot upon Dominguinhos finishing a theme initiated by Yamand, that received the name of Bonitinho (Cute).
Their work developed so smoothly that could be virtually edited following the original sequence of the recordings. Each one of them chose what he would like to play, both being conversant with the harmonies and tessitura of every song. The only piece suggested by the producer was Molambo (Rag) written by Jayme Florence and Mesquita which he knew that both artists had already played before. The remainder of the repertory came out of their intuition, inside the studio, with compositions of diverse styles written by even more diverse composers. Besides several pieces from both musicians, this CD contains also works by Tom Jobim, Sivuca, Abel Ferreira, Chico Buarque, Luiz Gonzaga, Waldir Azevedo, Pedro Raimundo and Humberto Teixeira, Custdio Mesquita and Sadi Cabral. Under the name of Yamand + Dominguinhos , this CD is being launched through Biscoito Fino and is Yamands third work and Dominguinhos second for that recording company.
It was Yamand who asked me to invite Dominguinhos, since I had produced the latters CD together with Sivuca and Oswaldinho recalls Jos Milton. When the recordings were over, Dominguinhos was enthralled with the symbioses that had taken place between them.
Recorded in analogical format at the studio Cia. Dos Tcnicos, in January 2007, This CD was completed in five days: The meeting between two creative geniuses, emphasizes Jos Milton, during which neither tried to outstand the other, avoiding thus any futile display of virtuosity.
In this CD remain quite clear the gacho sonorities of Yamands guitar as well as those of Dominguinhos northeastern accordion. Brazils southern and northeastern regions in perfect harmony.
