Edito de Who's Your Cowboy Now?
This ain't your Daddy's Country! Rick Hays & American Steel began in 1994 in Northern Nevada as a trio and has grown to a full six-piece country band today. The band has a variety of sound, which features a fresh country sound with a strong edge. The band has been described as "rich and powerful" by many audiences. Their versatility allows the band to cover songs from Waylon Jennings, to Alan Jackson, from The Hollies to Lynard Skynard, from Merle Haggard to Eddie Money. The band is well known for their original material and audiences truly come alive and are very responsive to their original songs. Rick provides a unique illumination through his writing and composition, which allows the band to collaborate together with their one-of-a-kind style of country music. Rick defines their music as "this ain't your daddy's country." During a recent interview with Channel 2 News KTVN, Rick said "As songwriters and entertainers, we have a responsibility for the condition of our society. We can either be part of the problem, or part of the solution." This belief has directed him to write and perform songs that encourage a brave new type of man. Rick's idea of a brave new man is a man who is not afraid to show his love for his woman in public, but also makes it "cool" to do it with style and grace. His song "Little Cards & Letters," that he co-wrote with Marty Easter, Vice President, Nashville Songwriters Association Incorporated (NSAI) Reno, Nevada illustrates this concept and is a favorite among audiences. The lyrics from Little Cards & Letters, holds the audience captive, especially the line "the guys at work, they tell me I'm whipped, but I say boys I'm just honey dipped" which brings an audible roar from the men and women both. The band is all about variety, versatility and fullness of sound. The band released their debut CD, "Who's Your Cowboy Now?" June 2002 at Harrah's Reno. The CD features 12 songs, all written or co-written by Rick Hays. Lacy J. Dalton makes a guest appearance on the CD in a duet with Rick on the song, "You Can't Love Me Like You Used To." "The Outlaw" which Rick co-wrote with songwriter John Moss, examines the moral justification of a crime-of-passion, to the consequences of life-on-the-run as a murder suspect. Taking a bold stance, Rick shows his personal relationship with Jesus Christ in his song "Call On Me." Rick shares the value of never being alone, for when he needs God's help he remembers his Fathers' words, "Call On Me." In the title track, "Who's Your Cowboy Now?" an honest look is taken at Cowboy etiquette in a bar room setting. The band delivers a style in which the music and arrangement combine with the lyrics to further support the theme of the song. You can clearly hear this in "The Outlaw, Come To Me By The Ocean, and Black Widow Soul, just to mention a few." From the brilliantly crafted words & music, to the top-notch band arrangement, onto the high-energy performance by the band, it is simple to see why Rick Hays & American Steel will be the next musical act of note, to carve a new strain of music in Nashville, and throughout America. When you hear their music you will realize, "This Ain't Your Daddy's Country!" Lire la suite
