He has played in many church and church related activities such as conferences, prison ministries, and various outreaches. Roderick has also performed in other venues such as festivals, art museums, banquets, clubs, and a variety of other functions. SHOPA / Expressions in Gospel Jazz is his first recording released to the public. SHOPA, (pronounced show-pay), is actually an acronym for "Sweet Hour of Prayer Accentuated." The trumpet playing on this project cruises from smooth jazz to cool jazz, to straight ahead jazz, to jazz fusion, to gospel jubilation, and back to smooth jazz again. Also a composer and song writer, Roderick has three original songs on this album; "I Couldn't Put The Book Down", "Day of Vengeance", and "My Peace I Leave With You."
