Edito de RadiatorWill Hector has been a student of melody since an early exposure to his mom's Burt Bachrach habit, and his brother's Beatles obsession. His songs reflect this love of melody woven over interesting chord progressions much in the way that songs from Elvis Costello or Duncan Shiek do. He is a solid guitar player with a clear, mournful tenor voice. Will was raised in Milwaukee amidst a small, but determined, music scene that spawned the Violent Femmes and the BoDeans. He was influenced by the upper Mississippi River and Minneapolis sounds that began with Bob Dylan, and continued with Husker Du and the Jayhawks. He moved to the San Francisco Bay area in 1999 where he performs as a solo artist and with his band, the Mourning Doves. He has studied with guitarist Peppino D'Augustino, Tubes frontman Bill Spooner, and platinum-selling songwriter Bonnie Hayes, and has shared the stage with the likes of Spooner and the Old 97's. His songs have been favorably compared with those of the Counting Crows, the Jayhawks, and REM. Listeners will find in them a melodic, lyrical, fresh blend of upbeat pop with melancholy Americana. In addition to rock, Will plays in a traditional music band that plays folk songs from Ireland, Greece, and Macedonia. True to his pop sensibility, however, Will's favorite song in this band is an Emmy Lou Harris-Dave Matthews duet cover, My Antonia.
