Edito de Lego My EgoMercury Rev?s album ?Yerself Is Steam? is being re-issued as a 3-disc Special Edition. The landmark debut is joined by (1) the ?Lego My Ego? bonus album of rare singles, sessions and more, it?s been unavailable for 12 years, and (2) a DVD featuring two remarkable and rarely seen video promos for ?Chasing A Bee? and ?Car Wash Hair?.
First issued in 1991, ?Yerself Is Steam? received unanimous praise from the UK music press, the numerous plaudits resulting in it spending many months in the indie chart. The band, a 5-piece from Buffalo NY led by sometime Flaming Lips member Jonathan Donahue, embarked on their first live gigs ? a local bar, then here to the UK?s Mean Fiddler and Reading Festival. Although unpredictable and seeming forever on the edge of chaos, the gigs hyped up the critical interest. Five more UK visits followed. The album was then reissued by Beggars Banquet, who went on to release their next two - ?Boces? and ?See You On The Other Side?.
Commercial breakthrough came with ?Deserter?s Songs? on V2 Records, with the band exploring new and enigmatic artistry, followed by ?All Is Dream? and ?The Secret Migration?. Mercury Rev have become an in-demand live act and continue to spread their unique and exhilarating music to large and faithful audiences worldwide. This unique and original breakthrough album is still regularly praised as one of their best.
