Edito de EuropeDeleted back in 2001 this sought after album by the effervescent Latin jazz vocalist Tania Maria is finally available again. 'Europe' sees Tania lead three tight and funky groups across Europe in 1991 and 1993 ? from Switzerland to Malta ? over seven excellent tracks.
Tania Maria is one of the world's leading Latin jazz vocalists, whose unique singing style and distinctive voice (described as "strangely attractive"! by The Rough Guide To Jazz) has seen her pick up a legion of fans the world over. Philadelphia Weekly has recently described her as a "feisty improviser and perpetual free spirit" who "draws on a funkier, earthier strain of Brazilian music. Closer to a thunderous volcano than a day at Ipanema, Maria lights up the night."
'Europe' sees her performing with the likes of master drummer Steve Gadd, (who has graced records by artists such as B.B. King, Steely Dan, Paul Simon and Chick Corea) and top jazz/funk bassist Anthony Jackson who has recorded with people such as Roberta Flack, Pat Metheny, Donald Fagan, Chaka Khan and Michel Petrucciani.
