Edito de D A Y D R E A MYossarian can remember singing before even talking well. He garnered his love for music at an early age due to singing in church early on. His Grandmother, a state missionary played piano and composed songs.
Yossarian, his Grandmother (Missionary Price), and his younger sister (Yoncella) would travel Statewide sometimes countrywide church to church spreading the Gospel as they were lead to do. His Grandmother and his Mother strongly encouraged his gift and love for music.
He began garnering lead roles in elementary plays in addition to an advanced High School role of THE MUSIC MAN while still in elementary. His stature at the school eventually lead to him being chosen for statewide Honor Choir amoung thousands of candidates in California.
Some of his major influences within gospel are Andre Crouch, Kirk Franklin, The Clark Sisters, Yolanda Adams, and Shirley Caesar. Some outside of gospel include: Prince, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Stevie, Aretha, Whitney, Patti, Marvin, and Luther to name a few.
He holds his mother Pamela responsible for exposing him to Soul Music early on. He recalls trying to mimic her singing Aretha Franklin, Johnny Guitar Watson, Labelle, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Evelyn Champagne King, Debarges, and many other(records). "In addition to listening, I remember just sitting by her record collection for hours analyzing the packaging, photos, lyrics etc. I was fascinated with the overall artistry that each artist had to offer back in the day."
He comes from a strong background of music as his Grandfather Robert Price was a recording artist, and recorded a hit record in his day named "Pretty Girls". His family had been known to rub elbows with the likes of Sly from Sly & The Family Stone, T-Bone Walker and one of the original Little Rascals are in his gene pool.
As an adult he began to enjoy writing and recording music . He is currently an artist on the up and coming Indie label MMP records. The head of the label Tee is a good friend of his that he considers to be like a sister. They are currently in the working on his debut album." In addition to that he also garnered success as the Lead Singer of the well known California band BROTHER NEFARIOUS.(MySpace.com/BrotherNefararious) a local Sacramento band that won Best R & B Band for 2005 along with previous and current nominations. BRONEF is a Sacramento favorite, who is always in the local News and Review. Also in November 2004 the Sacramento Bee had a feature on local bands in where BRONEF was compared to Santana. In this same article the Bee choose to put a single close up of Yossarian's face on the cover. This was also an honor to him as he was chosen above a large established pool of talent also included in the article.
Two major events have reassured Yossarian that his purpose here on earth is to spread love through music: First off, he met and was photographed with his long time inspiration Mariah Carey in 2001. To quote Yossarian " It was amazing I mean to be influenced by someone so much and then to meet them?? I had no words; I mean what can you say? I was so in shock. I am afraid I may have came off to her as one of those crazy fans". (Laughs) "Dont trip Mimi I will make it up to you." Secondly, he was asked by Prince himself to come from the audience and dance through 5 of the purple ones hits. This took place in 2004 Arco Arena during his Musicology Tour in front of 20,000 people.
Per Yossarian: " Music will always be in my heart and I will have a song to sing until the day that I leave this earth. God has a plan for me and its all in his time when he allows my light to shine brighter. I consider expression through music to be a Gem Of Life. Besides all of the stars that I may have / or will come in contact with, be it by the 1st or 7th power. I have yet to find and deliver my own message through music. I believe I have only teetered the road that I am to travel and that my message is still within trying to find the light of day. That growth is what I strive towards on a daily basis and I hope to gravitate closer and closer towards those with the same objective and goals for life."
